Recent Member news

As most of you know the Ruidoso Downs Race Track was flooded on July 27, 2008. Due to this flood the track was closed July 27, 31 & August 1.

Mr. R.D. Hubbard did not hesitate and immediately proceeded to spend a considerable amount of money to repair the track and buildings that were damaged by the flood. The track was repaired very quickly with every consideration given to the safety of the horses and the workers. We feel very fortunate that the track did not have to be closed for the entire season. Mr. Hubbard realized the financial impact this would have had on our whole community, including the Jockey Club. To show our appreciation to him the board of directors decided in August to assist him with the financial burden and made a donation to MR. Hubbard.

The board of directors is asking that all members please remember to support MR. Hubbard on his tax decrease through the New Mexico state legislature.

New for the 2009 season

Please notice the new TV’S on the front row!! The old TV’s will be replaced with new 37” flat screens. The club plans to phase in all new TV’s over the next few years.

Lloyd L. Davis Ruidoso Jockey Club Scholarship

The scholarship fund was started in 2006 with donations from our membership. To continue to fund this scholarship the board of directors decided to allocate $25 from each member’s dues this year to the fund. The board also decided to award the scholarship for four years contingent upon grades & continued employment.
